Manageability metrics

George Candea has posted some thoughts about measuring system manageability:

http://www.asterdata.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/17/measuring-manageability/

Basically, measure the frequency of an operation (like installing from scratch), measure the number of steps involved, and measure the average time of the steps. I’m unhappy with all the measuring of real people; that stuff is expensive! I proposed an alternate metric of the gzipped size of the command set needed to do an operation. Your thoughts? (On George’s blog, please.)
