I’m too tired to write a proper witty-yet-self-deprecating blurb. I have several on my home page already, check those out.

fyi.. I have seen a “ball of Lightning” before. it was when I was 16 years old and was driving home after a storm and the roads were wet. (I am 42 now)..
a huge ball of what I thought was fire, rolled across the street in front of my car (about 50 foot).. and just kept rolling into the woods it went..
I was completely taken back and had never seen anything like it before.. very strange. did the research and realized that it was some sort of rolling lightening.. just glad it didn’t hit my car..
weird because there wasn’t any type of large object that it was rolling toward.. just woods

Regarding your post on ball lightening, I think I saw some when I was a teenager. I was in bed and suddenly the ceiling of my bedroom was on fire. It was large (about the size of a basketball), round and was shooting out flames. It was totally silent and I didn’t smell any ozone or anything. It sat there for several long minutes, then disappeared. Scared the sh*t out of me! I decided that the neighbors over the back fence must have had a bonfire and it reflected into my bedroom (which didn’t make sense because we had a big backyard with high powerlines overhead). Thinking about it as an adult, I wonder if the charge off the powerlines had something to do with it. In any case, it never repeated.

I’m so happy I found your post about ball lighting. This is the only thing that explains what happened to me this morning.

Thanks for writing the blog about ball lightning. I’m not crazy! On March 27,2014 I got a visit from one of these plasma looking ball lightning. It is winter here no storm night but was an aurora (Northern lights activity this night) heard a crackling sound which woke me up and through my blinds saw a reddish light (I’m a grown woman with kids and am now afraid to sleep in my bedroom now where the reddish ball floated in). It came through the closed window alongside my bed like it was gonna go past me and tuned toward me and after about 10 seconds was gone. A very frightening experience!
